Olsten Staffing is assisting a local client in Monroe, North Carolina to find an experienced and eager production assistant to join their growing team!

The Production Assistant supports the Multistage Operator and Second Operator in running multi-stage presses efficiently and safely while ensuring products meet quality standards. This position also helps with general plant duties, learns additional operator responsibilities, and provides coverage for the Second Operator when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety rules and participate in the company’s Safety, Health, and Environmental programs.

  • Assist the Multistage Operator and Second Operator with press operations, setup, wash-up, and breakdown.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the press and assigned work areas.

  • Properly handle, label, and dispose of hazardous waste, used rags, blades, and containers.

  • Prepare materials, supplies, inks, and equipment for upcoming jobs.

  • Monitor ink levels and viscosities and bring materials to the appropriate production stage.

  • Take out turns for each roll, label and package products as required.

  • Stack pallets and keep the production area properly supplied.

  • Learn and operate the solvent dispense system and SAP ERP system.

  • Learn Second Operator duties and provide coverage when needed.

  • Train new Production Helpers.

  • Work overtime or alternate shifts as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • General mechanical knowledge.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to read and understand written instructions and production documentation.

  • Basic math skills, including rates, ratios, percentages, and reading graphs.

  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and take precise measurements.

  • Strong and consistent color-matching ability.

  • Must successfully complete the required training matrix.

  • Must be able to pass the Farnsworth-Munsell color test at an Average Discrimination level or higher.

  • Forklift certification is required; training and certification will be provided.

  • Previous printing or manufacturing experience is preferred.

  • Two-year technical degree is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb stairs, reach, and use hands for handling materials.

  • Comfortable working around industrial machinery and equipment.

  • Must be medically qualified to use respiratory protection during wash-ups.

  • Ability to detect and distinguish odors.

  • Willingness to work around chemicals, dust, temperature changes, and other manufacturing conditions.

Pay: $19.51/hour

Pay Details: $19.51 per hour
