Olsten Staffing is assisting a local client in Cheraw, South Carolina to find an experienced and eager Spray Operator to join their growing team!
The Spray Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control of spray and back-end production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures equipment operates efficiently while maintaining product quality, safety standards, and production goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review production schedules and determine maintenance, repair, or adjustment needs based on equipment condition and production demands.
Inspect machinery and diagnose mechanical or operational issues; perform corrective actions and running adjustments to maintain maximum production efficiency and product quality.
Perform machine changeovers and equipment setup for material or production changes; test and verify proper operation after setup.
Repair and overhaul production equipment, including replacing worn or damaged parts, retiming machine actions, and making operational adjustments.
Operate, clean, lubricate, and maintain assigned equipment while clearing jams and ensuring smooth production flow.
Monitor spray materials, lubricants, and machine supplies; replenish or replace materials as needed.
Remove, adjust, polish, install, and maintain metal working tools and components.
Conduct quality inspections using gauges, measuring devices, and testing instruments; record inspection data and identify visual or dimensional defects.
Analyze spoilage, downtime, and production delays to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
Complete preventative maintenance inspections and document findings, repairs, and corrective measures.
Observe conveyor systems, pallet systems, and back-end equipment operation; troubleshoot and report recurring mechanical or electrical issues.
Re-thread strapping materials and clear jams to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
Communicate equipment malfunctions, non-conforming materials, and maintenance concerns to supervisors and support teams.
Support smooth can flow through the back-end production area and assist with operator relief coverage when necessary.
Complete production, maintenance, and process reports accurately and on time.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
Follow all plant safety procedures and ensure safety guards, devices, and equipment are properly used at all times.
Qualifications:
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
Ability to operate, adjust, and maintain production equipment safely and efficiently.
Experience using measuring tools, gauges, and quality inspection equipment.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
Basic written communication and documentation skills.
Ability to follow safety procedures and manufacturing standards.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
Primarily works in a manufacturing plant environment with occasional office-related duties.
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, conveyor systems, and vehicular traffic.
Exposure to varying temperatures and loud noise levels.
Requires adherence to all PPE and safety requirements.

Pay Details: $14.00 per hour
