Olsten Staffing is assisting a local client in Cheraw, South Carolina to find an experienced and eager Spray Operator to join their growing team!
The Spray Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining lacquer spray equipment used in the manufacturing of aluminum beverage and food cans. This role ensures protective coatings are applied accurately and consistently while maintaining production quality, equipment performance, and workplace safety standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and adjust Lacquer Spray Machines (LSMs) to maintain proper lacquer pressure, temperature, and film weight distribution according to production specifications.
Monitor production lines to ensure quality standards are consistently met.
Perform quality control inspections, including copper sulfate flange testing and metal exposure measurements.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and make mechanical adjustments as needed to minimize downtime.
Conduct preventative maintenance tasks such as replacing belts, setting spray nozzles, adjusting machine guides, and lubricating equipment.
Clear can jams from spray machines, conveyor systems, and upper conveyor lines safely and efficiently.
Maintain clean work areas by cleaning overspray boxes, turret wheels, conveyors, and surrounding equipment.
Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout practices.
Ensure all machine guards and safety devices remain in place and operational at all times.
Accurately complete production, quality, and maintenance documentation.
Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and quality teams to achieve operational goals.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous machine operating experience in manufacturing, packaging, or can-making environments preferred.
Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills required.
Ability to use measuring tools and perform quality inspections.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety procedures.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting.
Ability to work from ladders, platforms, and catwalks safely.
Comfortable working around industrial chemicals, lacquer materials, and manufacturing equipment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
Work Environment
Manufacturing/industrial production environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, heat, and industrial coatings.
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and respirators when necessary.

Pay Details: $14.00 per hour
