Olsten Staffing is assisting a local client in the Bennettsville, South Carolina area in finding an experienced and motivated Laboratory Technician with strong electrical experience to join their growing team.
The Laboratory Technician will support the Lead Engineer by performing laboratory testing, validation, and electrical analysis to ensure products meet applicable industry standards.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Evaluate and test electrical components including motors, contactors, transformers, relays, thermostats, and low-voltage control devices to ensure compliance with specifications
Perform electrical instrumentation and wiring of motors and heaters for long-term durability and performance testing
Set up, troubleshoot, and monitor AC/DC electrical circuits during laboratory testing
Establish and maintain background testing conditions including system voltage, current load, and ambient temperature
Collect, analyze, and document electrical test data, ensuring accuracy and repeatability
Populate Microsoft Excel laboratory reports, graphing .CSV data and refining reports based on Lead Engineer feedback
Maintain lab organization, 5S standards, and coordinate calibration of electrical testing equipment
Education & Experience
Associate of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or equivalent required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
Hands-on electrical experience required, including electrical testing, wiring, and troubleshooting
5–10 years of instrumentation or electrical testing experience OR 0–5 years of engineering experience with strong hands-on lab and electrical proficiency
Experience working with electrical motors, heating equipment, and low-voltage control systems strongly preferred
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
Strong project management skills and ability to meet commitments with high ethical standards
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Solid understanding of AC/DC electrical theory, electrical safety practices, and testing procedures
Proficiency using electrical test equipment such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, current transformers, thermocouples, and DAQ systems
Experience collecting, analyzing, and graphing electrical performance data
Knowledge of CAD systems (SolidWorks preferred)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High-energy, self-directed individual with strong organizational and time-management skills
Strong attention to detail, particularly with electrical drawings and laboratory data
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
HVAC and electrical heating system experience is a plus
Pay rate is based on experience.

Pay Details: $18.00 to $25.00 per hour
