Knitter / Inspector – Full Time (Exempt)

Position Overview
This role is responsible for operating and maintaining circular knitting machines to meet production and quality standards. The Knitter/Inspector performs routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshoots machine issues, repairs and replaces basic parts, and ensures all yarns and materials are correctly set up. Additionally, this position inspects products for quality and assists with style or size changes as needed. Training and development opportunities are provided to support advancement toward Technician-level responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Communicate machine performance concerns to Master Technician, Head Technician, Technicians, and Department Manager.
• Document machine-related issues on the communication board.
• Review machine LCD screens to monitor production, identify stops, and diagnose machine performance problems.
• Track units produced to identify underperforming machines.
• Report yarn performance concerns to the Manager.
• Participate in shift meetings and collaborate with team members.
• Perform weekly preventative maintenance on assigned machines, meeting expectations outlined by leadership audits.
• Assist with machine style and size changes as needed.
• Perform basic repairs aligned with skill level.
• Replace needles and sinkers according to instructions and capabilities.
• Inspect knitted products both relaxed and on form boards for visual defects.
• Replenish yarns and dispose of defective materials per guidelines.
• Complete doffing orders using the IFT keying system.
• Verify yarn accuracy, machine settings, and manufacturing order details before production.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Successful completion of Knitter Trainee program or 3–5 years of experience maintaining circular knitting machines.
• Working knowledge of circular knitting machines, including Lonati and Santoni models.
Pay Details: $16.50 per hour
