Assistant Manager - Production Facility (Lumber/Wood Products) – Full-Time | Laurinburg, NC

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Assistant Production Manager to lead our team and ensure smooth, safe, and efficient mill operations. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily production of softwood lumber, supervising team members, and maintaining consistent quality and safety standards across all shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direct supervision to sawmill personnel.

  • Ensure consistent lumber flow and production through established processes.

  • Oversee log staging, inventory control, and product quality checks.

  • Coordinate daily operations, including scheduled and emergency maintenance.

  • Maintain air quality and stormwater compliance standards.

  • Track production and personnel records accurately.

  • Enforce preventative maintenance schedules and promote a clean, organized workspace.

  • Manage railcar and truck loading for by-products.

  • Utilize sound judgment in scheduling overtime and labor to meet production goals.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Mill Manager or in a similar supervisory role is required.

  • Industrial Maintenance Experience

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality.

  • Excellent attendance and dependable work ethic.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills.

  • Attention to detail with a results-driven approach.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and foster a positive team environment.

  • Proficient in shop math and lumber measurement.

  • High school diploma required; additional technical training preferred.

  • Knowledge of labor laws and company procedures.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call as needed.

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Must maintain a clean and orderly work area.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Pay Details: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour
