Not Just Classifieds...
Anyone who wants to know how recruitment
works
in 2000 and beyond has to know where to go online. To help make your HR job a little easier, we have gathered some of the leading online job sites together, as well as links to large search engine pages where hundreds of sites can be accessed.
Some of the sites are for both employers and job-seekers, and some favor one or the other, but to best utilize online recruitment options it is important to see how both sides are served.
About Work
This site originated at America Online. It is cutting-edge, and often sides with the job seeker against the inanities of many job situations. Including a work horoscope, gripe section and games, it is decidedly different.
America's Job Bank
Perhaps the largest single source for job postings online. The variety of positions is mind-boggling. The search engine is slow and information is presented in a stiff way, but all information is free. For anyone looking for postings, this is a grand place to start.
CareerCity
An example of the newer look coming online to make job-seekers feel more -- in this case -- "on the street." It offers plenty of good advice taken from contemporary sources on how to dress, interview, negotiate, etc.
Headhunter.net
Search for jobs by type, industry or company..
CareerPath.com
This site claims to post over a quarter of a million new jobs every month and to be the most visited job-related site on the Internet. Started by six large dailies, it is now listing jobs from more than 25 leading newspapers around the country.
JobWeb
JobWeb is a nonprofit professional association with 40 years of experience in the career services and HR/staffing fields. Supported by nearly 1,700 colleges and universities, the site is targeted to college graduates and alumni.
Monster.com
The merging of the Monster Board and OCC (Online Career Center) in early 1999 makes Monster.com one of the largest and most visited career sites on the Web. Lots of content and value for both the job seeker and the recruiter.
Saludos Web
This is the first job site dedicated exclusively to Hispanic job-seekers. It's well-done and informative. But -- most important -- it is probably a sign of things to come as more sites differentiate themselves by defining their targets more closely.
